COURSE OVERVIEW
Drone photogrammetry it the science of using aerial imagery in surveying and mapping to measure distances, surfaces, calculate volumes and much more. Compared to traditional surveying methods, this technology delivers significantly faster results with higher data density. This technique is very useful in many fields like volume calculations in mining and quarrying, construction site monitoring, topographical surveys, building inspection, etc.
This course will teach you how to complete and process a drone photogrammetric survey using the Pix4D software suite. It has been put together by an expert who has been involved in several large-scale projects requiring drone photogrammetry. The course is aimed at everyone and is easy to understand. No prior knowledge of the subject is required.
The course is divided into 4 sections.
Section 1 covers the choice of drone and camera. This section will help you understand the impact of camera specifications on the quality and accuracy of a survey.
In section 2, you’ll learn how to plan and complete a drone survey. This demonstration will teach you how to set up the mission, delimit the flight area, survey ground control points, as well as the possible sources of error to watch out for during a drone survey. This section includes demonstrations of real drone survey cases.
Section 3 deals with software modeling. In this section, you will learn how to model the flight zone surveyed by drone. You’ll learn how to use several software functions, including distance, area and volume measurements, point cloud processing and export, orthomosaic export and more. The demonstration includes several examples of modeling with and without ground control points.
Section 4 focuses on Pix4Dcloud, a platform you’ll find useful for sharing your projects with colleagues or customers.
Finally, you’ll be asked to complete an assessment. This assessment will allow you to practice with real data from a survey. This data will be provided to you in the course.
